The 6704 matrix line printer combines speed, multi-system compatibility and multi-copy printing capability in an affordable, versatile package. Operating in thousands of data centers around the world, the 6704 has proven itself a reliable workhorse in applications ranging from data and word processing to graphics and barcodes.

S/3X, AS/400 and PC compatibility.
The 6704 is ideal for multi-system environments. It is equipped with a Smart-T Twinax interface for your System/3X or AS/400 and provides IBM 5256, 5224, 5225 and 4234-02 emulation. A parallel interface is provided for PC/LAN connection, along with IBM 5152 Personal Graphics Printer emulation.

High speed, high performance.
The 6704's 400 line per minute (LPM) draft mode throughput, and 175 LPM near letter quality (NLQ) throughput, place it in a class by itself. By comparison, the higher-priced IBM 5234-02 offers a mere 345 LPM draft and 120 LPM NLQ throughput.

And, the 6704 handles paper from 3 to 16 inches wide and 4 to 14 inches in length, as well as six-part forms. Its straight-through feed path ensures reliable, semi-attended printing.

Quality text, top-notch graphics
The 6704 produces high quality text and graphics with up to 90 x 180 dots per inch resolution for a broad range of applications. Its NLQ font produces crisp, clear office correspondence and financial reports. Greenbar reports are also enhanced with the 6704's data processing font.

In addition to generating graphics from host or PC software, you can equip the 6704 with our optional Magnum card to create barcodes, work orders, and a variety of business graphics. You can even realize postage discounts by adding our resident POSTNET barcodes to your organization's correspondence.

Simplicity and convenience.
Sophistication without complication was a priority goal in designing the 6704 matrix line printer. The multi-function, color-coded control panel puts a full range of print parameters at your fingertips, with the most frequently used keys grouped together. With a single keystroke, you can select lines per inch, characters per inch, page length, device ID and printer fonts. A lockable keypad protects your print parameters from changes by other operators, and a 32-character full-recognition display provides plain-English status and error messages.
